Service Project: St. Anthony’s Dining Room (Mar 2)

Dining Room Service is more than a meal: it is a way to share stories, smiles, and build community. Dining Room servers deliver meals, bus tables, and help with other tasks as needed. Volunteers provide our guests with a nutritious meal and a much-needed sense of belonging.

Dining Room Service
Monday, March 2, 2020
9:15 AM – 1:45 PM
Group of 10 Volunteers (Minimum Age: High School)

We plan very carefully for each volunteer who has committed to work with us.  Our services are delivered by volunteers, so please help us run efficiently by arriving on time, staying for the full shift, and advising us if there are any changes in the number coming in advance of your visit.

Schedule

9:15 am – After a brief orientation the group will join staff and other volunteers to serve about 2,600 lunches to our poor and homeless neighbors.  Volunteers will serve trays, bus tables, work on the food line, and in our prep kitchen.  All volunteers will have the opportunity to experience several different positions.  On your lunch break you are invited to share food and conversation with our guests in the Dining Room.  You are our guest as well and do not need to bring lunches.

1:45 pm – Group departs

Some other logistical notes: Matins that day begins at 7:00 am.  That service will end around 8:00 am and then we will have time for a light breakfast before heading to St. Anthony’s.  On this day only (Mar 2) we are invited to park our vehicles at St. Brigid’s School – but please let Fr Kirill know if you’re parked there.  We are tentatively planning on taking a couple of rideshares and/or carpooling to St. Anthony’s.  Afterwards, we can return to the Cathedral or St. Brigid’s to retrieve vehicles.
